  1. Fairham Help Tinkture Win The ‘Seal’ Of Approval In The Gin Industry

Comments Off on Fairham Help Tinkture Win The ‘Seal’ Of Approval In The Gin Industry

We were recently approached by Tinkture, a company that has brought their own inspired take on rose gin to the market. They needed our help to get their product out into the marketplace.

Think we will let Sam, one of Tinkture’s Directors take up the story from here…

Fairham Mouldings create sealing solution for Tinkture Gin

From the very beginning Tinkture was founded on the principle that we wanted to create the very best possible drinks in the most considered and innovative packaging. In order to achieve this, we knew we had to find and work with the very best people.

We knew we had an incredible product and to complete our push for innovative and truly re-usable bottles we had to find suitable partners who would be willing, and able, to go on this journey with us.

After a lot of searching and experimentation we finally found the team at Fairham Mouldings. They understood exactly what we were looking for, were dedicated to achieving everything we wanted, and they have worked tirelessly to help us achieve our vision”

Our Toolroom team took up the challenge to create a seal for the unique glass bottles and lids that Tinkture wanted to use. The tools were designed using our in-house CAD system. After various trials and vigorous testing our Toolroom team came up with the perfect sealing solution. We used our own FDA compliant material…to keep the amazing gin inside the bottle, rather than have it leak everywhere whilst in transit!

Sealing Solution created by Fairham Mouldings

“We truly can’t thank Fairham enough, not just for their expertise, professionalism and amazing ability to respond to our entirely unreasonable turnaround demands – but more than anything, we have been humbled by their belief in us as a brand and as people, and we simply can’t recommend them highly enough”. – Sam – Tinkture Rose Gin.

It has been great to work alongside innovators like  Tinkture.  We’re happy to report that they have achieved the title of “Most Successful ever Spirit of the Month” at the prestigious Fortnum and Mason store, London.

  2. Fairham Breathe New Life Into Wolseley Quarter Light

Comments Off on Fairham Breathe New Life Into Wolseley Quarter Light
    Wolseley 1500

Fairham Mouldings were approached by Bob Langston, the Spares Consultant from the Wolseley Register, asking us to reproduce replacement quarter light window seals for the Wolseley 1500 and Riley 1.5 classic cars.

Bob had spent almost two years researching costs and possible companies that could reproduce this particular seal, and gauging interest from fellow members of the Wolseley Register. He had previously approached several companies but found they showed very little enthusiasm or simply didn’t have the facilities or capabilities to reproduce these 60-year-old quarter lights from an original donor.

Due to the age of the cars no existing drawings were available, so Fairham were tasked with creating new drawings and tools with nothing to work with other than the original quarter light window seal.

Using our Toolmakers extensive experience and knowledge, along with some blood, sweat and tears, the new drawings were created, and a very complex tool was made.

Fairham have enabled the Wolseley Register to become the only place in the world where you can purchase new quarter light rubbers for the Wolseley 1500 and the Riley 1.5 that completely match the original.

“Fairham Mouldings were the Wolseley Register’s choice when it came to having new Wolseley 1500 and Riley 1.5 quarter light rubbers made. They were the only company approached that had the facilities to do all stages in-house, from designing the tool using CAD software, to cutting the moulds, to producing the final rubbers, and all at a competitive cost. Their experience, enthusiasm and professionalism made it a pleasure to work with them throughout the project.”

Bob Langston, Spares Consultant, Wolseley Register.

Fairham Mouldings understand the needs of the classic vehicle restorers and our flexible approach enables us to provide precision component solutions for all aspects of this specialist activity.

  3. Our Mould Making Capabilities

Comments Off on Our Mould Making Capabilities

All precision rubber components start out life as a requirement and then go through a design process for the manufacture of the mould and then ultimately the finished product.

Whilst we are very happy to simply use your mould and produce your rubber components, we have our own comprehensive in-house mould making and tool making facilities. We make the tooling in our own tool room workshop and manufacture parts and moulds on – site with the latest CAD and CAM systems and CNC machinery.

This complements our component manufacturing and enables us to offer the ultimate ‘one stop shop’ for your precision rubber components.

We can work with you to develop your component from initial concept, then design and make the mould ready for component manufacture.

Or we can take your existing designs and drawings and create the mould from those using our full 3D design and manufacture facilities.

We can even take your existing components and create a mould directly from that using our precision measuring and optical equipment, a very useful ability where original drawings do not exist or are obsolete, we can then re-create the mould drawings in the process.

Not only do we provide a high quality, flexible mould making facility to suit your exact needs, but we also give additional peace of mind, agreeing never to use a client’s mould for anything other than the clients own application.

  4. Our work within the Food & Drink Industry

Comments Off on Our work within the Food & Drink Industry

Fairham Mouldings have been manufacturing high quality FDA compliant rubber products for the Food and Drink industry for over 18 years.

Our parts are used in applications where food consumables are present, such as the dairy, meat processing and food packaging equipment. Examples of parts that we supply to our customers are seals, gaskets, pump seals in hygienic couplings, pipe connectors and O-rings. We can manufacture bespoke parts to suit customer requirements.

High or low operating temperature range can be achieved, depending upon which type of rubber is selected, as can good resistance to some chemicals and non-polar solvents. Parts can possess a strong and flexible characteristic and most are odourless and tasteless.

To meet the requirements of the food and drink industry, we have developed several elastomers. These are formulated using only ingredients determined by the United States Federal Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 (CFR21) Section 177.2600, sometimes stated as FDA compliant elastomers. In collaboration with our material suppliers we have successfully carried out extraction tests on these materials, with the extractables falling well within the limits set by the FDA regulations. These results render them suitable candidates for USP Class VI (United States Pharmacopeia) testing. This test involves assessing the effects of the materials and any extractables on tissue in a laboratory environment.

We have a range of materials –  EPDM, FKM, Nitrile, Platinum Cured and Peroxide Cured Silicones, and a WRAS approved EPDM. An EPDM Metal Detectable rubber has recently been added to the list. We have an extended range of other types of materials suitable for other industrial applications.

All of our mould manufacturing is undertaken here at Fairham, using the latest CAD/CAM facilities. We have developed our own unique food quality mould surface coating, which eliminates the use of release sprays, ensuring a clean surface on the final product.

All product moulding is manufactured on site, ensuring that full control on quality is achieved.

  6. Fairham Mouldings gains “Fit For Nuclear” Status

Comments Off on Fairham Mouldings gains “Fit For Nuclear” Status

Fairham Mouldings are delighted to announce they have been officially endorsed by the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre as ‘Fit For Nuclear’  – the benchmark for British companies entering into the civil nuclear supply chain. Fairham is the first organisation in the rubber industry to achieve this.

Fit For Nuclear is an intense business improvement journey that helps companies meet the standards required in the nuclear industry.

After initial assessment and a site visit, companies must complete a bespoke improvement action plan, only when this is completed will they be added to the F4N directory, which industry leaders are using to identify potential companies for their own supply chain.

“Achieving Fit For Nuclear status is a significant step forward for Fairham” said Director John Fairhurst. “Our decision to enter the F4N programme was part of continual drive to improve Fairham’s capabilities and standards. We are delighted to have achieved F4N status, which endorses the exceptional quality of our people and organisation”

Comments Off on Celebrating Our 15th Anniversary

2015 sees us celebrating 15 years in business. Way back in 2000, John Fairhurst our Managing Director set up the company with only 1 other employee. Since then we have gone from strength to strength and grown into a highly successful business, employing over 20 people, our premises have tripled in size, and we now manufacture tooling and rubber components to many wide and varied sectors.

Over this time we have developed a reputation as experts in our field but we are still the same professional dedicated team that we have always been.

To help celebrate our 15th Anniversary,  our staff and their partners enjoyed a fantastic meal and wonderful night at the Shajan Restaurant.
